The SIS&T UCPath Implementation Team is responsible for implementing mandatory student information system changes, in support of the campus conversion to the new UCPath human resources and payroll information system. Several student information systems will be impacted by the UCPath implementation because they are highly integrated into and rely upon other systems that are required to be modified by the implementation. See key dates and affected systems below:

SUBJECT: SIS&T UCPath Implementation: General Updates

Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of the Student Information Systems & Technology (SIS&T) UCPath Implementation Team, we are writing to let you know that on Friday, September 7, our team is scheduled to conduct a dry-run test of the UCPath implementation procedures in our TEST environment only.

This means that applications which operate in our production environment will not be impacted and normal business processes will not be affected. However, SIS&T staff will have limited availability on September 7 because staff will be focused on running the test in a lead up to the UCPath cutover, scheduled for Sunday and Monday, September 16-17.

We will continue to email with occasional updates. More information about the UCPath project can be found at https://www.ucpath.ucsb.edu.

Sincerely, the SIS&T UCPath Implementation Team

Dear Colleagues:

As we near our portion of the UCPath implementation, I am writing to share more details with all SIS&T staff. Briefly, our involvement includes taking down several SIS&T-managed systems from 9 a.m. Sept. 16 to 5 p.m. Sept. 17, plus a smaller set of systems from 6-11 p.m. Sept. 19, in support of a larger campus implementation effort.

I would like to thank everyone who is contributing to this significant effort. I especially want to thank James Kinneavy, Brian Frazier, Anthony Schmid, and Keri Bradford for their coordinating efforts. If you need to contact the team, please email them at ucpath-sist@sa.ucsb.edu.

Sincerely,

Joe

SUBJECT: SIS&T UCPath: Dry-run testing and impacts Sept. 5 and Sept. 7

Dear Colleagues,

In preparation for the UCPath cutover, we are writing to let you know that from 8 a.m.-Noon on Wednesday, Sept. 5, we will be conducting a limited dry-run test, and on Friday, Sept. 7, beginning at 8 a.m., we will be conducting an end-to-end, dry-run test that is expected to last through the business day.

These tests will occur in the Test environment only and will not impact applications that operate in the Production environment. However, please note that SIS&T-managed applications listed as unavailable during the Sept. 16-17 cutover will not be available in the Test environment during the dry-run test on Friday, Sept. 7. Any non-UCPath development originally scheduled for testing or release on Friday, Sept. 7, should be rescheduled for another day. The dry-run test on Wednesday, Sept. 5, will not impact any applications in the Test environment.

While both dry-run tests are in progress, SIS&T technical staff will not be available for non-UCPath business operations. In fact, SIS&T technical staff may require specific business units to support some dry-run test operations. These units would be limited to Admissions, Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships, Office of the Registrar, and the Graduate Division. If assistance is needed from these units, they will be contacted directly by members of their own SIS&T information systems teams.

We will continue to email with occasional updates. More information can be found at http://sist.sa.ucsb.edu/projects/ucpath-implementation and https://www.ucpath.ucsb.edu.

SUBJECT: SIS&T UCPath: Updates on this week's dry-run tests

Dear Colleagues,

The limited dry-run test our team had scheduled for 8 a.m.-Noon today (Sept. 5) could not be completed, due to an unrelated network connectivity issue. Instead, it has been rescheduled for 8 a.m.-Noon tomorrow, Sept. 6. This test will occur in the Test environment only and will not impact applications that operate in the Production environment.

Please remember that, beginning at 8 a.m. Friday, Sept. 7we will be conducting a second dry-run test that is expected to last through the business day. During Friday's end-to-end test, which will occur in the Test environment, the SIS&T-managed applications listed as unavailable during the Sept. 16-17 cutover will not be available in the Test environment. See a full list of affected applications at https://www.ucpath.ucsb.edu/go-live/ucsb-system-outages.

Any non-UCPath development originally scheduled for testing or release on Friday, Sept. 7, should be rescheduled for another day. While both dry-run tests are in progress, SIS&T technical staff will not be available for non-UCPath business operations.

SIS&T technical staff may require specific business units to support some dry-run test operations. SUBJECT: SIS&T UCPath: We are ready for cutover on Sunday

Dear Colleagues,

We are happy to report that the UCPath dry-run tests our team conducted last Thursday and Friday were successful and that we are all-systems-go for the full-scale cutover of UCPath on Sunday and Monday, Sept. 16-17. It took a team of 20 and much hard work to plan and practice the steps required for executing a project of this size, and now we have a high degree of confidence for success on Sunday.

Please review the full list of systems that will be unavailable during the cutover, scheduled to begin at9 a.m. Sunday, at https://www.ucpath.ucsb.edu/go-live/ucsb-system-outages. While the cutover is in progress, SIS&T technical staff will not be available for non-UCPath business operations. Specific business units may be required to support cutover activities, and the information systems teams for these units will reach out directly to required staff as soon as possible, if they have not already.

Once cutover activities have been completed and all SIS&T-managed systems are fully restored, you will receive an email from our team. If you experience any problems after restoration, please report any issues to support@sa.ucsb.edu.

Our team will continue with plans for UCPath maintenance from 6-11 p.m. next Wednesday, Sept. 19, however, we discovered during last week's dry-run tests that we could conduct all necessary maintenance without taking down any systems. It is possible that users will notice brief periods of disruption during maintenance, but no systems will be completely unavailable that evening.

We will continue to email with occasional updates. More information can be found at http://sist.sa.ucsb.edu/projects/ucpath-implementation and https://www.ucpath.ucsb.edu.
